Synergia Ranch Retreat Center
Located in the high desert landscape south of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Synergia Ranch Retreat Center is a unique ecological and cultural center dedicated to creativity, education, regeneration, and community. Founded in 1969, the ranch has evolved into a vibrant retreat center and agroecological project that brings together artists, educators, scientists, performers, environmentalists, and innovators from around the world.
Set on more than 100 acres of restored high desert prairie, Synergia Ranch combines ecological restoration with sustainable living, cultural exchange, and experiential learning. Over the decades, the land has been transformed through soil restoration, tree planting, organic farming, water conservation systems, and the construction of handcrafted adobe buildings, gathering spaces, gardens, and orchards.
The retreat center hosts workshops, conferences, residencies, performances, and educational programs focused on ecology, agroecology, the arts, movement, meditation, writing, theater, and human development. Facilities include a large geodesic dome, dance studio, yurts, gardens, orchards, and traditional New Mexico-style accommodations designed to support both personal reflection and collaborative experiences.
Synergia Ranch offers 18 adobe-style guest bedrooms with accommodations for up to 30 guests in shared occupancy, along with additional camping areas and gathering facilities for larger groups and events.
The ranch also holds historical importance as one of the original centers connected to the founding of the Institute of Ecotechnics and the early development of ecological projects such as Biosphere 2. Today, it continues to function as a living laboratory for regenerative practices, creativity, ecological restoration, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
