Director, Institute of Ecotechnics, a UK and U.S. registered charity, which has organized and hosted over twenty
international conferences on global trends and in the field of closed ecological systems. It conceived and set-up
a range of ecological research and demonstration projects including: a pastoral regeneration program in the NW
Kimberley of Australia; a rainforest enrichment program in Puerto Rico; a high desert orchard near Santa Fe,
New Mexico; built and owns an 82′ ocean going research vessel; and during the start up years of the Biosphere 2
project put together the scientific and applied research team that designed and built the unique facility for

1994 – 2006
Member of the Board, The Biosphere Foundation, a not-for-profit corporation founded in 1991 to (1) encourage
research and hands-on fieldwork about the Earth’s coral reef and rainforest biomes, (2) promote educational
programs about the ecology of the biosphere and its biomes, (3) develop technologies for restoration ecology
and the recycling of wastewater and air, and (4) advance the science and development of closed systems for

1988 – 1994
Director of Publications and Educational Programs, Space Biospheres Ventures, a research and development
company engaged in design, development, and implementation of closed ecological systems for Earth and space
applications. SBV designed, built and operated the Biosphere 2 experimental research facility north of Tucson,
Arizona. In 1992, created and became Publisher of The Biosphere Press, a publishing imprint of Space
Biospheres Ventures, and produced over twenty books, videos and educational curriculum titles in ecology,
biospherics, and nature.
