Pablo Friedländer

Dr. Pablo Andrés Friedländer (Argentina, born 3 March 1975) is a researcher, consultant and project developer working at the intersection of ethnobotany, ecology, philosophy, traditional knowledge and regenerative development.

He holds a PhD focused on the convergences between ancient wisdom traditions and emerging ecological paradigms in science and philosophy. He graduated in Classical Studies and completed postgraduate studies in History, Aesthetics and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Barcelona (2001–2003). Between 2000 and 2012, he taught Ancient Philosophy and Classical Epics at the Universities of La Plata and Barcelona.

His training includes ecological systems design and intercultural frontier sustainability projects with the Institute of Ecotechnics as well as Applied Ethnobotany with the Society of Ethnopsychology and Cognitive Studies and practical training at the Institute of Applied Amazonian Ethnopsychology.

Over more than three decades, he has conducted extensive field-based research throughout the Amazon Rainforest, the Andes and the Atlantic Forest of Brazil. Between 1993 and 2001, he completed traditional apprenticeship periods with Shipibo master healers in the Peruvian Amazon. He subsequently carried out field research and collaborative work in indigenous and traditional communities throughout South América and Europe, while continuing seasonal work in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest with the Matutu Foundation and traditional communities from 1992 to the present.

Since 2012, he has served as an international consultant in ethnobotany, psychedelic research, drug Policy reform , experimental agronómic research and rural development, ecological restoration, and innovative socio-environmental and health initiatives, collaborating with organizations including the Beckley Foundation, Acción Andina, El Puente and other pioneering international NGOs and philanthropic initiatives.

He has been a Member of the Institute of Ecotechnics since 2007, a Trustee of the Treeangle Foundation (Argentina, Brazil, Spain and the United Kingdom) since 2013, and a Trustee of the Beckley Med Foundation (Catalonia) since 2019. Since 2008, he has served as President of the Biospheric Activities Foundation (Argentina), leading large-scale ecological restoration and environmental education initiatives, including the Acción Serrana programme in the Sierras Grandes of Córdoba, as part of the continental Andes Action initiative.

His academic work includes co-authoring scientific publications in neuropsychopharmacology and psychedelic research (2012–2018). Earlier in his career, he published a book on archaic Greek epic poetry (2002), numerous peer-reviewed articles on Ancient Philosophy and Greek Philology (1997–2012), and several book chapters on ecological restoration, environmental humanities and intercultural studies in academic publications across Europe and Latin America (2005–2020). Alongside his academic production, he has published essays, poetry books and articles in cultural journals and institutional newsletters.

Since 2018, he has also developed regenerative social enterprises based on sustainable production, ecosystem restoration and community value chains, including ChampaTea and other Treeangle initiatives. His work combines scientific research, territorial development and social innovation through partnerships with local communities and international organizations.

Since 2022, he has devoted a substantial part of his work to the design and management of large-scale Biocultural Restoration programmes in the central mountain ranges of Argentina and throughout the Amazon Basin, particularly in the Acre, Purus, and Ucayali river regions. In parallel, he has focused on research, development and innovation (R&D+i) of productive models, reciprocity-based partnerships and community enterprises developed together with Huni Kuin, Shipibo, Santo Daime and other traditional communities. These initiatives are centred on the emerging field of Ethnobiomedicine, integrating biodiversity, traditional knowledge, bioactive compounds, regenerative value chains and culturally grounded therapeutic protocols currently under development. To support this work, he co-founded A Ponte Ethnobiomed S.A. in Rio Branco, Brazil, in 2025, creating a platform dedicated to translational ethnobiomedical research, bioeconomy innovation and biocultural development in collaboration with native peoples, scientific institutions and international partners.
